Project Grad

About Us

The Friends of Roosevelt Project Grad is an all-volunteer effort that is committed to providing our graduating seniors a memorable overnight party that is 100% drug and alcohol free.

We fund raise in order to underwrite a significant amount of the cost of a fun-filled overnight party at an undisclosed location with music and entertainment all night long!  In the morning, the graduates are fed breakfast and transported back to the RHS campus.

Because we want to keep our graduating seniors safe and do not want them to experience the heartache of news that a graduate's life was cut short from binge drinking or an alcohol or drug induced fatal car crash on their graduation night.

After the graduation ceremony, graduates check in at the designated meeting place, surrender all electronic devices (so there's no following them!), board a bus and are taken to their party site. Once there, parent volunteers monitor all doors throughout the night to ensure there are no uninvited guests or contraband, and no grads leaving the premises without permission.

All of this is possible when we all roll up our sleeves, pitch in and volunteer to help with the fund raising.  So sign up to volunteer, make spam musubis, brownies, cookies, or your own special finger food for our concession stands. Work the concession stand at RHS games and events. Turn out for beach clean ups, sell Zippy's tickets, support poinsettia sales, and the many other activities that are planned each year to make this project a success. TOGETHER WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

In 1990 Roosevelt High School was the first public high school in the State of Hawaii to organize a Project Grad celebration.  Every year since then we've hosted the overnight grad party event.
